12/08/04 UK Soul Star Ola Onabule Makes Welcome Return
Carving himself an enviable niche as one of the UK’s hottest soul-jazz vocalists, Ola Onabule returns with his latest album, ‘In Emergency, Break Silence’, a delicious slice of authentic soul-jazz. With his first major distribution deal with Universal, Ola’s stunning voice will get the much-deserved higher profile he has worked so tirelessly for since his debut release in 1994. A gifted song writer as well as a dynamite vocalist, Ola’s four previous albums have been widely acclaimed for both the authenticity of Ola’s stunning vocal range and deeply emotional lyrics, coupled with his extremely talented band, matches emotional depth with high class musicianship to create a satisfying whole.

A respected sideman and session star as well as hugely popular solo artist, Onabule has worked and toured with artists that include Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, Diane Reeves, Al Jareau, Patti LaBelle Tower of Power, Joe Zawinul and Roy Hargrove as well as collaborating with UK sax legend Courtney Pine. His velvety tones are reminiscent of both George Benson and Will Downing that coupled with his four-octave range will surely send shivers on his massive 2004 UK tour. Performing around 100 gigs a year, Ola will be singing to more people than ever before. His electrifying band features the talents of bassist Don Chandler, the incredible keyboard skills of Alex Bennett, guitarist Nial Tompkins and drummer Julian McLaren, who all help to create a killer foundation for Ola’s must-see live show. Playing a selection of songs both old and new the band will be performing at the following venues nationwide:
